DIY: Starbucks Chai Tea Imitation Latte


No matter which food establishment I am in — be it a Starbucks, Panera, or Dunkin Donuts — I am always on the lookout for one thing: a chai tea latte. (Check out my DIY Chocolate Hazelnut Chai Latte HERE.)

It can be iced, it can be hot, I don’t care either way. But lately, I decided I was going to take it upon myself to experiment with how to craft my own.

Here’s what I’ve come up with:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 chai tea bags (I use Tazo organic)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1/2 cup half and half (or almond milk)

Easy peasy, right? All it takes is a few simple ingredients and the actual process of making it is even easier. First boil the water, then add two chai bags. Steep for several minutes before removing them and stirring in ginger and sugar. Lastly, pour in the half and half/almond milk.
