Tried It & Liked It: Greek Yogurt and Banana Chocolate Chip Pancakes


Pancakes are one of my favorite breakfast foods of all time, but I have been in search of a healthier alternative to the boxed stuff. For a while, I was super turned off by the idea of using mashed-up bananas as an alternative (since I despite bananas with a hatred unlike any other). I found that combining bananas with greek yogurt and honey and chocolate chips helps to dilute the flavor and makes for a delicious breakfast alternative.


  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 TBS olive oil
  • 1 TBS honey or agave nectar
  • mashed banana
  • 1 cup of greek yogurt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 tsp protein powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon

Sure, it requires a few ingredients, but the recipe itself is very simple. First combine all of your wet ingredients in a mixing bowl (including the chocolate chips) and the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Combine both bowls together using a whisk. Spray a skillet with cooking oil and heat it up. For me, this yielded three big pancakes, but of course, you could make them smaller. I served my batch with pancake syrup and a helping of honey dew and strawberries covered in honey and chia seeds.
